Why was the khilafat movement a turning point in history of the indian national movement ?

because it it is the movement that was needed by the Muslims who are opposing the Britishers at that time and by the support of these Muslim the Gandhiji has organised Islamic movement which are plays a major role as mahatma Gandhi had soported these Muslims and both had made this movement as a national movement and give the important plays in the Indian national movement..

It was a turning point because :

1.Large scale participation in masses

2.It was widespread movement as it reached to the villages too

3.It strengthened the Hindu-Muslim unity
