#Gandhiji wanted to start a wide spread movement in India.No such movements could be organised without bringing Hindus and muslims closer.

#One way of doing this was to take khilafat agitation of muslims .

#At Calcutta section of congress 1920 he convinced the leaders and started a non cooperation movement in the support of khilafat as well as for swaraj.
