The author, Tishani Doshi reached Antarctica by a Russian vessel, Akademik Shokalskiy. She started her journey from Madras; crossed nine time zones, six check points, three bodies of water, and many eco-spheres. She had to travel over 100 hours using different modes of transportation such as ship, car, and aero-plane. When she reached there she was wonder-struck at the expansive landscape and silence.
