India is a big country. There exists a lot of linguistic , geographical and regional diversities. In such a situation, it becames difficult to run the government efficiently. Hence, the union and state governments are not sufficient, because these two-tiers alone cannot deal with all the problems and issues specially at the local level. Thus need for power sharing within state was recognized which result in a third tier of government known as local government
