the reasons why we adopted parliamentary system of government are as follows :
1. those who framed the constitution were inspired by the British ideas of parliamentary democracy .
2. the makers of the constitution were acquainted with the working of parliamentary institutions set up in India under the acts of 1919 and 1935
3. the parliamentary system is both responsible and responsive :
the council of ministers is collectively responsible to the lok sabha .this house comprises of peoples representatives .so there are no chances of the government to work in arbitrary manner
4. there are several methods from which the government exercises control over the ministers : question hour is an important mechanism through which government exercises control over the ministers . it is used to expose the failures of the government ,so it dose not misuse its power .
no confidence motion can be moved by the opposition against the council of ministers .if the motion is parred ,the government has to resign .
