why was the period from 1793 to 1794 referred to as the "reign of terror".

It is referred as "Reign of Terror" because:
I.Robespierre followed polic y of severe control and punishment.
2. All those people who use to go against him were arrested,imprisoned and then tried by revolutionary tribunal.
3. If they are found guilty ,they were guillotine.
