A History of British was promulgated by James Mill which was a three-volume work in 1817. He was a Scottish professor and administrative philosopher. In his work, The prioritization made by him was incorrect because he divided the Indian history on the basis of religion such as Hindu, Muslim, and British. this division on the basis of religion was not acceptable due to the other faiths which also existed in all these periods such as Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Most of the Indian historians criticized the prioritization of James Mill on the basis of religion and divided the Indian history into- ancient, medieval, modern or colonial.
