He was extremely bewildered at this news from Lakshmi Das, because just a few moments ago he had opened door to Ali's knocking. He was standing at the door; Ali was leaning on a stick, and the tears were wet on his face. His features were softened by lines of kindliness. In his eyes he had seen a light so unearthly that he had shrunk back in fear and astonishment.The postmaster was
