The pandemic and lockdowns necessitating work-from-home has brought us some benefits along with setbacks. One of the benefits is that we have more time available to us that would have otherwise gotten used up in long commutes, outings and other outside-world distractions. And reading for pleasure has come back in a big way. Reading not just for work, to catch up with the latest being showcased in LitFests and Book Clubs or to tick off from the bestseller lists of leading publications or even to keep up with the Joneses (OK, Srinivasans, Jhas or Singhs if you like). So it was with great pleasure that I began to read Ruskin Bond’s newest offering, titled ‘A Song of India: The year I went away’ published by Puffin Books, an imprint of Penguin India. From start-to-finish, I read the book and savoured it in less than an hour. Lots of great illustrations by Mihir Joglekar and well spaced out printing, and time flew past in a jiffy. Leaving me smiling and happy.
