why was the school in the story A face in the dark called Eton of east ?

that school was known as Eton of east .The school where Mr Oliver worked was run on the lines of an English public school. The students belonged mostly to elite families and were supposed to wear blazers,caps and ties. Eton is also a school meant for children of the British royalty and elite class. Hence the camparison
