Wanda's father wrote a letter to Miss Mason to inform her that Wanda and his brother won't go to their school anymore and they have shifted from that area to somewhere else and wanda would be enrolled in any other school so that no one woyld again ever bully her due to her name and appearance. This made the teacher aware about the class's behaviour and she was sad . Peggy and Maddie felt sorry for their deeds and were ashamed about it .

Explanation:
Wanda's father informed the teacher that his kids won't come to the school any more. He also said that they were moving to a big city where nobody would point out that their name is funny.
