Hi mate here is ur query..

Hi there,

This has to do with partation. When India and Pakistan partitioned, the modern day Banglandesh was called East bengal. The region that stayed with India lied west to that province so it was called West Bengal. However in 1956 the constitution on Pakistan remaned East Bengal with East Pakistan. In the year 1971, Bangladesh gained independence with the help of Indian Armed forces and remaned themselves as Bangladesh.

As there is no East Bengal anymore, Ms Mamta Banarjee wants to rename West Bengal to Bangla.
