Water is not only at liquid state it is also in the forms of solid, liquid and gas. These forms depends upon the temperature. When the temp. is low the water particles get freezed and it becomes an ice. When the temp. is too hot, like when we heat it, it becomes a gas. The water becomes a gas and comes in the form of steam.

At room temperature (anywhere from zero degree centigrade to 100 degrees centigrade), water is found in a liquid state. This is because of the tiny, weak hydrogen bonds which, in their billions, hold water molecules together for small fractions of a second. Water molecules are constantly on the move.
