Why we are advised not to talk while eating food epiglotis opens and closes while speaking?

while speaking the epiglottis opens and closes. if we speak while eating then the food goes into the epiglottis and there will be a blockage

because while eating , a flap of cartilage covers the wind pipe so as to avoid food enter the trachea.sometimes when you talk, you swallow [your food down] the wrong channel. Instead of going to your stomach, it goes into your lungs or your nose and causes you trouble.
