why we take horizontal component is cos theta when resolving the vector​

Answer:

bcoz if you draw a perpendicular from the head end of the vector then the horizontal,that vector and the perpendicular will make a right angle triangle and as you know by trigonometry that let the angle between vector and the horizontal be theta then

by base/hypotenuse relation

cos∅=base/hypotenuse

hypotenuse be the vector and let vector be Ā then

cos∅=base/Ā

so,

base(horizontal component)=Ācos∅
