why we use copper wire as a fuse

I don't think that Copper is used in fuses as it has a high melting point
Anyhow metals like tin , zinc etc are used... Silver coated copper is often used but not only Copper ...

reason to use copper wire are:-
1. it has low melting point.
2.it has low resistance.
3. it melts down when excessive amount of current flows through it.
4.it can be formed into thin wire .
