why we use glass instead of diamond or other transparent substance for glasses

We use glass lens for spectacles because it has some special property like converging and diverging..etc...

GLASS IS MADE UP SAND AND IS COMPARITIVELY CHEAPER FORM OF TRANSPARENT SUBSTANCE THAN AMY OTHER SO IS USED TO MAKE GLASSES
