Why we use only thin cathode in electrolytic refining?

When a metal is refined using electrolytic refining impure metal isused as anode and pure metal is usedas cathode. The solution contains salt of same metal that is being refined. Ifyou closely observe reactions that are happening at the anode and cathode,
