Concept

By adding up all the salaries for a particular group of workers and then dividing the total by the number of workers in the group, you can determine the average base, mean pay, or average salary. The formula to determine the average of the provided numbers is equal to the sum of all values divided by the total number of values.

Given

Average salary of 50 men = ₹80

original wages for two men = ₹46 and ₹28

wrong salary which was given to the 2 men = ₹64 and ₹82

Find

Revised average salary of 50 men.

Solution

Total amount of money distributed among the men = 50 × 80

                                                                                = ₹ 4000

sum of the men's original salaries = 46 ₊ 28 = ₹74

total of the men's salaries that were incorrectly paid = 64 ₊ 82 = ₹146

Extra money which was being paid to the 2 men = 146 ₋ 74 = ₹72

The revised total amount = 4000 ₋ 42 = ₹3928

Revised average salary of 50 men = 3928 / 50 = ₹78.56

Hence we get the revised average salary of 50 men as ₹78.56
