When pollen grain of flower do not germinate on the stigma of the same flower due to genetic inhibition that is presence of similar self-sterile genes (S1 S3 in pistil and S2 S3 are pollens) .

Examples are Potato, Tobacco etc.

This genetic mechanism prevents self pollination from the same flower of different plants from fertilising the ovule by inhibiting pollen germination or pollen tube growth in pistle.
