Why we use the alloy invar in pendulum clocks?

  • Clock pendulums were one of the first uses of Invar due to its near zero coefficient linear thermal expansion enabling accurate timekeeping. ... However, by using Invar, the length of the pendulum didn't change and therefore the time was always correct.

Well the simplest answer is that it is made up of nickle and iron and has low cofficient of thermal expension.
