Hello!
Because you’ve lost hope. When there’s no feeling that things will improve, our only option, it seems, is to give up and die. There are many, many facets as to why people feel this way. My suggestion is you find someone qualified to help you move through this difficult phase of your life.
Besides finding the right person, I’ve found there are also chemical components in our bodies that affect our outlook. For me, it was a deficiency in B-12 and Folate (B-9). These have huge implications in people’s moods and the ability to handle stress. When looking at this aspect, find a doctor who’s qualified in holistic medicine as well as mainstream. This is a doctor who’s up on the current understanding of the proper tests and treatments. (One of the tests is called a CBC with differential) It measures how your body is utilizing the 3 B vitamins - B-6, B-9, and B-12.
If you’re deficient in these particular B’s, the world feels overwhelming. Everything is felt so much more intensely. This leads to depression. It’s an area worth having your doctor explore.
Other supplements to look at, again with someone who knows what they’re doing in this field, is amino acids. There are some great ones that support serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain. These are both responsible for our ability to experience optimism and joy.
I know what it’s like to feel as if there’s no reason to live. It’s awful and no one can tell you to “just feel better”. But I encourage you to find resources that will help you. When you do, it dramatically changes your life.
Remember, when you die, that’s it. End of story. So before you contemplate that as an option, in the meantime, be kind to yourself. Be willing to realize there are many options that lead to a better outcome.
