as India is majority Hindu religion and the British rule during the 17 and 18 Century bought many problems to the native Indians after the Independence of India it was still implemented in their blood about attacking because the British forced the Hindus and Muslims to became angry in certain ways they even started a revolt in 1857 against the British but they were defeated

after independence they even abolished entering India

Yes, some people also would have supported them. This has the following reasons: (i) The missionaries were setting up schools for tribal groups and lower caste children. (ii) These children were thus equipped with some resources to make their way into a changing world.
