-The opium was to be grown the best land,land near the field & well nurished. On this land the farmers mostly used to grow pules.
-Many of them did not had land,and had to pay the rent to lease the land from landlord & the price of land near the villages was very high.
-Also the production of the opium was a difficult process,the plant was very delicate & peasants had to spread long time nurtiring it.
-Finally the price paid by the government for the opium production was very low.
