why were Indian unhappy with the new Enfield rifle

indians were not happy with the new enfield rifle because that part wich they have to remaove from their mouth to fire the gun was made up of pig's fat and some of the indian soldiers were muslim and some of them were hindus and all of them were against it

Greased cartridges were to be used in this rifle. The soldiers had to bite the end of the cartridge with their mouth before using it. The cartridges were to be greased with the fat of cow of pig. Indians feel it as a sin to bite the cartridges.
So the Indians were unhappy at the new en-field rifle.
