seats were reserved for SC and ST in parliament because at time of independence uppercast don't allow SC or ST to participate in elections and won them and they were taken as untouchable, so to remove this discrimination between SC and SR and other castes seats were reserved for them

Therefore, some seats are reserved in the Parliament for SC and ST communities. This has been done so that the MPs elected from these constituencies will be familiar with Dalit and Adivasi interests in Parliament and can represent them.
