Bhikkhus and bhikkhunis expected to share their alms with other members of the sangha because BHikkhus and Bhikkhunis because it was a crucial part of the ruler of Buddhist Monastry and the other reason behind sharing the alms with Sangha member was compassion for fellow beings.

As we all know Bhikkhus had to followed many rules in order to live their life peacefully so they share their alms with other members.
