Surontiko samin was leader and he started' samin movement ' against Dutch government. He argued that the Dutch had not created wind, water, earth and wood so it could not own it also

Samin challenged the Dutch for the state ownership of the forest. They argued with them sooner it became a widespread movement. It was the Samins' son-in-law who helped it organize. Some of the saminists protested by laying down when the Dutch came for survey and refused to pay taxes.
