how we know that they were kept away from Kabbadi and such other games.? My granny used to play Kabbadi in her childhood. But if they were kept away the reason could be partition of jobs...like at that times, women rarely work to earn..! These were some norms that were followed..and no doubt they are followed even today...bt now we are improving..
