Why were the methods of the radicals(extremists) wrong and why were the moderates more influential in obtaining swaraj(freedom) ?

The moderates demanded the expansion of councils and giving them more power on the opinion that these reforms would train India in self-governance, and eventually they would become capable of governing the country.The radical nationalists on the other hand, rejected the entire idea that the Indians needed benevolent guidance or assistance of foreigners.These leaders wanted swaraj or complete autonomy,as they regarded it their birthright.
