Hello Friend !

1)  To build tube railway system of London, mass destruction was carried on. Houses were displaced, streets were damaged and deep trenches were dug

2)  Heaps of scrap were spread everywhere which led to sickness in the city.

3)  Hence, London tube railway system was considered as iron monsters by the public because it shattered their life

Hope this helps !!

....because to make 2 miles of railway , 900 houses had to be destroyed. CHARLES DICKENS wrote a book Dombey and Son about the massive destruction in the process of construction. Houses knocked down, burrowing in the earth, enormous heaps of earth and clay thrown up which led to the displacement of the london poor.
