untouchabilities were denied by the society because they are seen as below poverty persons. But all of them are equal so the society denied to give equal freedom to them.

Because they were considered menial,dirty and unholy by higher castes as Brahmins and Kshatriyas.Hence they didn't touched them and called them ununtochables.
