The higher the pitch shriller the voice.As the sounds produced by vocal cords of women are higher than men so women have shriller voices than men.

bro vocal cord of female is shorter than male .vocal cord vibrate in order to produce a sound and higher the frequency higher will be the pitch and vice vsra
