why woodblock printing gradually become more and more Popular?

1. The production of handwritten manuscripts could not satisfy the  ever increasing demand for books.

2. Copying had many disadvantages as it was expensive, laborious and time consuming business.

3. Manuscripts were fragile, awkward to handle, and could not be

carried around or read easily.

4. Their circulation therefore remained limited.

5. As the demand of books woodblock printing  gradually became more and more popular.  

6. By the early fifteenth century, woodblocks were being widely used in  Europe to print textiles, playing cards, and religious pictures with  simple, brief texts.
