Why wurtz reaction is not preferred for the preparation of alkanes with odd carbon atoms?

because ,in the wurtz rxns no. of carbon atom become doubled . so if
initially carbon is in odd no. then their sum is even and if initially carbon is in even no. then also its sum is even . That's why wurtz rxns is not preferred for the preparation of alkane with odd carbon atom.
