It had been raining very heavily ,since last night. The raining and pouring, lightening striking and sound of thunder terrified me and my family.
Due to constant raining , the streets , road were flooded. Even after such a climate, I got ready , wore my raincoat , and started for school.
As the climate was unfavorable, only a few people were seen on the roads. As soon as I reached the school,a big notice was put up at the gate , which said that the school was closed for two days due to the unfavorable climate. Like me , many of the students had come to school. As there was no school, we played the whole day , by making paper boats and all. In spite of the bad weather , there were vehicles running on the road. We splashed the water on the road. We waded through the water, which was quite fun. After having all the fun, I headed back home. Seeing me wet and dirty, my mom asked to change my uniform quickly. And after that , mom made some delicious ,hot and crispy snacks for me to eat , with some hot tea. To give me a company,my friend Nima , also joined. We together , had lots of fun .We played indoor games like chess, ludo ,snake and ladder, etc. After a while , Nima went back to her home. I , was feeling bored , and requested my mom , to allow me to play computer games, as I couldn't play outside , due to raining. My mom agreed and allowed me to play for only one hour. By that time , it had stopped raining , and our very own hero , the Sun ,was again shining bright as usual. It was really an enjoyable day for me , and was like a break for me , from the everyday routine. :)
Hope this helps you !
There is an axiom which elders in our culture often cite. The axiom is ‘Excess of everything is bad.’ I realized the meaning of this maxim just a few days ago. During this time of the year, it usually rains in our region owing to the Retreating Monsoon phenomenon. At times it rains so much that there is a flood-like situation.
This season it really rained in torrents. Nobody knew it would rain so much! Assuming it to be a normal day, I went to school. I was just on the way, when the dark, thick-bellied clouds covered the skies! A gale began to blow. And in no time rain drops as big as cats and dogs began to fall on the ground. Soon it was water, water everywhere. Within 20 minutes of downpour, the roads had been turned into rivers. It was like a flash-flood situation. Everywhere the vehicles were trapped in water. The panic among people soared high.
It was impossible to move. The school was just a few meters away. But the water level had risen threateningly. I knew it was going to be worse. The rain was falling unrelentingly! Soon the emergency alarms were sounded. The RAF (Rapid Action Team) team members could be seen in action! The situation in low-lying areas of the city had become quite critical. Some old buildings had collapsed. Water had entered people’s houses.
Rescue boats were saving people trapped in water. I somehow managed to reach my school. There were many students stranded inside the school. I was soaked to skin. Fortunately a rescue boat came to our rescue. They took us to our homes and left us under the care of our parents. My parents had grown really quite panicky about me. They were overjoyed to see me safe. They thanked the rescue team. Later on they also thanked the Almighty for helping me be safe.
It kept raining throughout the day. The power supply was cut. We remained in constant fear! Fortunately the rain abated in the evening. But the Government authorities had declared a week’s holidays until the normalcy returned.
