Why zero sequence component is absent in line voltage?

Positive sequence components have the same phase sequence as that of the original unbalanced vectors. Negative phase sequence components have opposite phase sequence as that of the original unbalanced vectors.Thus zero sequence currents/voltages do not come into picture in case of phase faults.
