Correct Question :

A rectangular flower bed is 7 m long.

If the boundary around the bed is 22 m long, find its breadth.

Also, find its area.

Solution :

The length of a rectangular flower bed is 7 m .

Let its breadth be x meters .

The perimeter of the flower bed becomes:

> 2 [ Length + Breadth]

■ 2 [ x + 7 ] .

However , the boundary of the bed is given as 22 m

So,

2( x + 7) = 22

■ x + 7 = 11

> x = 4 metres.

Thus , the breadth of the flower bed is 4 metres .

The area of the bed is 28 m² .

This is the required answer .

Answer:

Given :-

  • Length of flower bed = 7 m
  • Perimeter of boundary = 22 m

To Find :-

Breadth

Area

Solution :-

As we know that

 \sf \blue{Perimeter = 2(l + b)}

 \sf \: 22 = 2(7 + b)

 \sf \: 22 = 14 + 2b

 \sf \: 22 - 14 = 2b

 \sf \: 8 = 2b

 \sf \:  \dfrac{8}{2}  = b

Breadth = 4 m

Now,

 \sf \orange{Area = l \times b}

 \sf \: Area = 7 \times 4

 \sf \: Area = 28 \:  {m}^{2}

Verification :-

22 = 2(7 + 4)

22 = 14 + 8

22 = 22
