There are two aspects of answering this question.

If you want to know which state has the largest forest covered area then certainly it's Madhya Pradesh with more than 77,000 sq kms of area forest cover.

But in terms of percentage of covered area of forest in a state then Mizoram comes first with more than 88%.

All the northeastern states are well covered forest areas but the states are not as large as the other states like Madhyapradesh or Maharashtra. But the percentage of forest area is always high in the Northeastern states.
