Not all metals are strongly attracted to a magnetic field. In fact, most aren't. It's just that your everyday life has a lot of iron(or steel) in it, and that forms the basis of your perception of "metal". Basically, Aluminium is paramagnetic and has a very, very slight attraction to a magentic field
