Will enzymes in the stomach continue to function once they have reached the small intestine? Why or why not?

Gastric enzymes work only in the acidic medium which is provided by HCl ( Hydrochloric acid ) in the stomach ,
In the small intestine the pH is alkaline due to presence of bile salts and Bicarbonates.
So even if gastric enzymes reach small intestine , they wont be able to act on the food there.
