  • The weight of a body can be measured using a spring balance and a weighing machine. The mass of an object on the Earth will be same as that on Mars but its weight on both the planets will be different. ... It is a constant for every object falling on Earth's surface.

Explanation:

While mass would be the same on both planets, weight would not..

  • W= mg, where m = mass of the object and g= acceleration due to gravity of the celestial body (planet, moon, star etc.).

Different celestial bodies have different ‘g’ values. Therefore the object will have different weight values on different celestial bodies.
