will two sides of a mountain front receives the same amount of sun rays? what could be the reason for this?

Two sides of a mountain front may or may not receive the same amount of sunlight.


The sunlight at higher altitudes has less intensity and that at lower altitude has higher intensity.


The amount of sunlight also depends upon the time of the day and as to which direction it faces.

Mountains have got sides two sides namely leeward and wind ward side

The wind ward side

This experiences a relief rainfall and the temperature in this part support the the growth of vegetations.

It has cool and wet temperature.


Leeward side.

This is the rain shadow side which receives little or no rainfall .

It has hot and dry place .
