when we compare two quantities (number, things, etc.) of same kind by dividing one quantity by the other is called ratio.

Example:

If you have to find the ratio of 800 gm to 1.2 kg :

Firstly change bigger unit into smaller

=> 1 kg = 1000 gm

=> 1.2kg = 1000×12

=> 1200 gm

=> 800/1200

=> 8**/12**

=> 8/12

=> 2/3

=> 2 : 3

Note: only explanation is long otherwise finding ratio is very simple
