It was growing dark and Ravi quickened his pace as he walked towards his house. He had to take the winding path across several large paddy fields, to reach his small house in the middle of a 10 acres farm.
Ravi quickly looked around, there was not a soul in sight. It had stopped raining and the path was slippery and soggy with weeds and mud from the fields. His sandals made a squishing sound, as he hurried towards the feeble light bulb burning in the distance.
Suddenly he thought he heard a different sound following him. It sounded like a small child whining. He stopped and looked around once more – as far as his eyes could see there was no one around and it was quickly getting dark. He hurried for some more distance, when he heard the whining clearly again. This time he did not stop, but started running. He was very afraid. He heard heavy panting behind, when he lost his step and fell into the muddy field. Next, as he looked up the path, he saw a black and white patched dog wagging its tail!
