Find the distance the vehicle can travel when the tank is full:

4/5 full = 12 miles

1/5 full = 12 ÷ 4 = 3 miles

5/5 full = 3 x 5 = 15 miles

Find the distance it can travel when it is 1/3 full:

1 full tank = 15 miles

1/3 full tank = 1/3 x 15 = 5 miles

Answer: It can travel 5 miles.

So,

This is a question from ratio and proportion,

Now,

Amount of fuel is directly proportional to the distance covered

Hence,

4/5 th of tank gives 12 miles

So,

1 ot full tank will give = 12× (5/4)

=15 miles

Now,

1/3 rd of the tank will give = 15/3

=5 miles

So,

The answer is 5 miles
