Article 352 of Indian Constitution mentions the national emergency of India, It can only be declared in case of armed rebellion or external aggression in the whole of the country with its territory. It has been declared three times in 1962 (China War), 1971 (Pakistan War) and and 1975 (Indira Gandhi period).
The state of emergency can be declared by the President on a written request by the Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister.
The Fundamental Rights of citizen can be suspended in case of national emergency. So, your every action is deemed to be controlled or can be suppressed by the government.
The federal state government also loses its power and need Parliament`s permission in case of any legislative matters. The Parliament also gets the power on the 66 subjects mentioned in the State List.
The term of Lok Sabha can also be extended for one year.
So, at a whole emergency is a state of dictatorship for its citizen, where all its action is controlled by the government.
