Answer:An electric bell contains an electromagnet, consisting of coils of insulated wire wound round iron rods. When an electric current flows through the coils, the rods become magnetic and attract a piece of iron attached to a clapper. The clapper hits the bell and makes it ring.

Structure of an electric bell

Subsequent are the elements of the electric bell:

  • Electromagnet: A copper cord is bruised around an iron article which works as a magnet when current streams through it.
  • Striker in tinge with communication screw through an iron piece.
  • A metal gong is also present.
  • A pitch or a switch is present.

Functioning of an electric bell:

  • If the button is 'ON' and the lock is in connection with the iron piece, then electric current cycles through the copper cord which gives magnetised because of electromagnetism.
  • This magnetised copper wire captivates the iron piece towards it, admitting the striker hit the gong and therefore the sound is generated.
  • As immediately as the striker blows the gong, the screw misses its communication with the iron strip and accordingly, the current ends in the circuit.
  • At this juncture, the electromagnet misses its magnetism and the iron piece walks back and arrives in communication with the contact lock.
  • The electric current is then renovated in the circuit and the striker slams the gong by the above procedure. This activity recites itself and the bell rings.
