Definition of a physical change:
No new product is formed
The reaction is reversible

Heat some ice. They will melt into water. Now, we know that no new product is formed since ice IS solidified water.

If you freeze the obtained water, it changes into ice again since the reaction is reversible.

Both characteristics of a physical change match here and this we can conclude that melting of ice is a physical change.

Hope it helped..
