( I ) Genetically modified plants can reduce the usage of chemical pesticides by introducing pest resistant plants. e.g., There are several nematodes that parasitie, a wide variety of plants and animals including human beings.

( ii ) Biofortification is beneficial because a plant product has inbuilt extra nutrient in it. This means that nutrients need not be added at the processing stage. This can help in tackling hidden hunger among the poor. Golden rice is an example of rice which has been fortified with vitamin A.
